About Patrols in Troop 2
Troop 2 is divided into three patrols each led by a patrol leader elected from within the patrol. Patrol meetings are generally held once a month during the weekly troop meeting to plan future outings and events. Patrols' individuality becomes more visible at campouts where each patrol may elect set up its own camping and cooking area. Divisions between patrols may disappear during an event in which only a small part of the troop attends. Additionally, patrols may hold meetings and even excursions separately from the rest of the troop if desired.
Viper Patrol
Ages 11-13
New scouts to Troop 2 will most likely join the "Viper Patrol". Multiple patrols can be created if 5-8 new scouts join at one time. The focus of the younger patrol is to lean the basics of scouting including the scout oath, law, slogan etc. Rank Advancement is also a focal point in this patrol as these scouts will be taught the skills to earn all of the ranks up to first class.
White Wolves Patrol
Ages 13-15
Scouts that have masted the basics of scouting will most likely join the "White Wolves". This group's focus is on reinforcing the basics of scouting while advancing from first class through star and life ranks, while earning their first eagle required merit badges.
Jankes
Ages 15-17
Older more experienced scouts in Troop 2 are most likely to be placed in the "Jankes" patrol (Janke is the dutch word for pirate). The main goal in this patrol is to teach the skills learned in earlier years to to the younger scouts and also to provide leadership for the troop. Rank advancement at this point is placed upon the individual to promote leadership. Eagle required merit badges are also a main focus in this patrol in order to obtain the highest rank of Eagle.
